Battle of the Severn - March
25th, 1655 A
skirmish which took place on the Severn River at Horn Point, across Spa
Creek and what was then named Providence, Maryland (following the
battle the name was changed to Annapolis, 1694). This battle has
been considered an extension of the conflicts that formed the English
Civil War pitting forces aligned with Lord Baltimore, then perceived as
Royalists, against those of Puritan colonists.
